Thomas Krief, from Alpe d’Huez (FRA) is, despite his young age, already “permanent fixtures” at competitions around the world!
He is one of the most experimental skiers of his generation and is said to be an exceptional talent who never fails to impress his rivals with high level and progressive tricks.
Thomas started to ski with his father when he was 3 – just around the time that New School Skiing (now called Freestyle Skiing 😉 ) emerged in the US – so quite naturally he decided to make freestyle his speciality.
Quiksilver discovered him already in 1999, when he was still only 6 years of age.
At only 9 years of age he started to competed in the National competitions and took part in the US Junior Open – always accompanied by his father, who has been with him from the start
After completing his studies (by correspondence) in 2007, he started competing on the Freeskiing Tour – in the Pro section!
He impressed the Freestyle skiing world by finishing 3rd in the overall rankings!! 😀
In the beginning Thomas Krief specialized in Slopestyle, but in 2009 he decided to finally go for the halfpipe instead – both diciplines are introduced as Olympic competitions Sotchi 2014 😀
Choice made, today he remains one of the best Freestyle skiing youngsters.
In 2010, Thomas made the top 15 in the world and competed for the first time in the Winter X Games Europe at Tignes. He was also the youngest entrant!
For many years now, Thomas Krief has trained with the very competitive Freeski Project Team, whi sets the rules at all the international pipe Ski events.
Thomas Krief now trains and travels with Winter X Games gold medalists Kevin Rolland (triple gold medal winner at the Winter X Games) and Xavier Bertoni (gold medal at Aspen), and the Frenchman is today one of the best “rookies” on the circuit.
Thomas Krief: “Skiing is in my life, I don’t remember life before it!” 😀
